Privacy policy
Majural Studios ("we", "us") is a design and development studio in Kingsville, Ontario, Canada. This page explains what personal information we collect, why, who helps us handle it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We follow Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA). Questions go to info@majural.com or by mail to Majural Studios, PO Box 51, Kingsville PO Main, Kingsville, ON N9Y 2E8.
What we collect, and why
- When you contact us through the form on majural.com: your name, email, and anything you choose to add (company, website, budget, timing, your message). We use it only to answer you and, if we work together, to run the project. The form emails it straight to us; the website itself doesn't store it.
- When you ask for a free site check: the website address and your email. We check that website (the same things any visitor's browser can see, plus public records like its domain's email settings), put the results in a private report only you get the link to, and email it to you. The request waits in a short queue on our website until our scanner collects it (at most 14 days). We keep a record of it (the website, your email and the date) so we don't check the same site twice in a month and can answer your questions. Ask us any time and we'll delete it.
- When you buy a report or the Fix Pack: your name, email, what you bought and the amount. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. For the Fix Pack we also ask what your website is built with, how to get access (you add us as a helper; we never ask for passwords), anything to leave alone, and an optional phone number.
- Business information we gather to offer our services: we look at public business websites and public listings (for example on Google Maps) to find businesses whose websites could be improved. We use the business's name, public contact details and what its website shows. When we email a business, we only use addresses that business has published, we say who we are, and every email has a one-click way to stop all future emails, which we honour straight away and permanently.
- Basic technical information: to keep the forms safe from bots and abuse we use Cloudflare Turnstile, and we count requests per connection. We store only a one-way scrambled code of your internet address (never the address itself), and most of those counts expire within a few days (40 days for the per-email limit on site checks). One count is kept with no end date: how many free checks and messages have come from that scrambled code in total, so the same connection can't use the forms without limit. Our hosting (Cloudflare Web Analytics) counts visits in a cookie-free way: which pages were viewed, roughly where from, and how fast they loaded, with no names, emails or internet addresses kept. Visitors in the EU aren't counted.
We don't sell personal information, we don't use advertising trackers, and we don't use cookies to follow you. The site remembers a few choices in your own browser (for example, whether sound is on), and those never leave your device.
Who helps us
A few companies process information for us, each only for its job. Some are in the United States, so your information may be stored or processed there.
- Cloudflare: hosting for majural.com and reports.majural.com, the bot check, and storage for reports and payment records.
- Resend: sends our automatic emails (form messages to us, site check summaries, report links).
- Stripe: takes payments and sends receipts.
- Google Workspace and Fastmail: our email inboxes. Google Fonts and two code libraries (cdnjs, jsDelivr) supply the site's fonts and 3D graphics, so your browser connects to them when the page loads.
- When we check a website, we use Google's free speed tools (PageSpeed Insights and the Chrome UX Report) to measure how fast it loads, and AI models from Anthropic (Claude) and NVIDIA to understand what kind of business it is and review the design, using screenshots and the text of the public pages we checked. None of them receive your email address or anything you typed into our forms.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages: in our inbox for as long as needed to answer you and keep records of any work we do.
- Free reports that aren't bought: deleted automatically after about 4 months.
- Free site check requests (the website address and your email): kept in our own records so we can follow up if you asked us to, until you ask us to delete them.
- Bought reports and payment records: kept so you can come back to your report and so we can keep proper business records (Canadian tax rules generally require six years).
- Unsubscribe requests: kept permanently, so we never contact that address again.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it (except what we must keep for tax records). Email info@majural.com and we'll answer within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
Everything is sent over encrypted connections. Reports sit behind long private links that can't be guessed, and pages ask search engines not to list them. Access to our systems is limited to us. No system is perfectly secure, but if something ever went wrong in a way that could harm you, we'd tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Big changes that affect how we use information you've already given us, we'll tell you about first.
